Every now and then there are places you visit that remind you that life – and the world – are beautiful. In mid-October through to early November the streets and parks of Grafton, set in NSW Northern rivers area, are transformed into something that resembles a dream as the Jacaranda trees explode in all their purple glory providing you that sense of wonder.

The Jacaranda season is surprisingly brief, which only makes the experience more memorable. The trees generally start to blossom in mid-October and by the first week of November (when we are visiting) the streets and footpaths are carpeted in fallen purple blossom. For anyone who may be a little sceptical on making the voyage to Grafton, this isn’t just a ‘oh yeah, there’s a couple of flowering trees, it is street after street, pathway after pathway, and parkland after parkland chock-a-block with these beautiful flowering trees. It’s one of those visits that will undoubtedly keep you coming back year after year.
